"Hollywood in Vienna"
Ambassador's Residence Vienna, October 9, 2009
U.S. Ambassador to Austria William C. Eacho, III welcomed international composers, producers, conductors, film makers, musicians, and actors to a reception at his residence to honor Austrian-American ties in film music. The well-attended and festive October 9 event was a highlight of a biannual cultural project, “Hollywood in Vienna.” Founded in 2007, “Hollywood in Vienna” highlights the contributions of legendary Viennese composers, such as Max Steiner and Erich Wolfgang Korngold, to Hollywood films. Among the guests at the reception were Bruce Broughton, a ten-time Emmy Award winner, David Arnold, who scored several James Bond films, and Austria-born Harald Kloser, who has just completed a co-production with film director Roland Emmerich. The program of this year’s “Hollywood in Vienna” project included a two-day symposium at the University for Music and Performing Arts, as well as a sold out concert at Vienna’s prestigious concert hall Konzerthaus on October 14.
